About Karen and sark
Karen Cahn developed a passion for style at an early age when she worked, during school holidays, for her father who was in ‘the rag trade’. She travelled to Southern Italy when she was nineteen and worked as model and sales assistant in the fabulously chic and upmarket ‘Boutique Cherie Mode’ in Vico Equense, a tiny village outside Sorrento. This took her passion to a different level. Luxurious garments with labels such as Salvatore Ferragamo and Christian Dior were hung in polished white wardrobes and displayed in glass showcases. The highlight of the Summer was modelling on the catwalk in a fashion show alongside professionals who had been flown in from Milan and Bologna.
On her return from Italy (and France) some years later, she joined British Caledonian Airways (later British Airways) to work as an Air Stewardess. The travel took her to distant destinations including New York, Los Angeles, Caracas, Lagos, Lusaka, Dubai, Hong Kong and Tokyo - each place with it’s own identity. On stopovers she took in the individual styles of the local people - cutting edge in New York, vibrantly coloured silks in Dubai, geometric cottons in Lagos and cute kimonos in Hong Kong.
After a career break to bring up her three children, Karen trained with Europe’s leading Image Consultancy, Colour Me Beautiful. Since then women from all walks of life have consulted with her.
In 2008 Karen combined her image business with the already established clothes company sark.
The business has since gone from strength to strength. Garments are sourced for their stylish and unique qualities at affordable prices. Assistance is always on hand to help clients select appropriate colours and styles. The very successful Clothes Shows continue however, private shopping appointments can be made at the studio in Renfrewshire or in clients' own homes.
